Taco Bell Tests the Return of $1 Double Stacked Tacos

Taco Bell looks into the potential return of $1 Double Stacked Tacos with a test in the Birmingham, AL.

Similar to the Double Decker Taco and Cheesy Gordita Crunch, the Double Stacked Taco features a crunchy taco (a crispy taco shell filled with seasoned beef, cheddar cheese, and lettuce) with a soft flour tortilla folded over it and held together by some sort of sauce (nacho cheese sauce in this case).

For the Birmingham test, they're testing three different varieties of the Double Stacked Taco: Nacho Crunch plus new Chipotle Cheddar and Reaper Ranch.

Nacho Crunch adds crispy red tortilla strips, Chopotle Cheddar features Creamy Chipotle sauce, and Reaper Ranch comes topped with Reaper Ranch sauce. While the red tortilla strips and Creamy Chipotle sauce can be found at any Taco Bell in the US, Reaper Ranch sauce is something that they've tested on several occasions. The sauce features Carolina Reaper chili peppers for a powerful kick of spicy heat.

The Double Stacked Tacos can be had for $1 each or as part of a $5 Box, which also comes with a Beefy 5-Later, Crunchy Taco, Cinnamon Twists, and a medium drink.

Double Stacked Tacos were first introduced nationally in late 2016. The current test is meant to run through early June 2019.
