Review: McDonald's - Pumpkin Spice Latte

McDonald's new, limited-time Pumpkin Spice Latte is made with a choice of steamed whole or nonfat milk, espresso, and pumpkin spice-flavored syrup.

A 12-ounce small was $2.29.

I went with whole milk for a creamier cup of coffee.

On a fairly short ride home, I opened my cup to find zero of the milk foam you typically get on a latte.

McDonald's Pumpkin Spice Latte has a bit of an orange tinge to it, which is typical and lets you know that it's pumpkin flavored (and food-colored). According to the ingredient list, the syrup used contains a bit of sucralose (artificial sweetener) in addition to sugar (fructose).

There's a nice bit of pumpkin spice flavor but it was also way sweet. Beyond that, there wasn't much/any coffee flavor to it.

The price is pretty reasonable when compared to the nearly $4 of a Tall (12 oz) Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks.

Overall, Pumpkin Spice Latte delivers on a pleasant pumpkin spice flavor but is a bit heavy on the sweetness and lacks on the whole "latte" front. Still, if you have a bit of a sweet tooth, a yen for pumpkin spice, plus a dislike of the actual taste of coffee, it might be what you're looking for.

  2. thank you for the info on the sucralose. I was thinking of trying this but I'm allergic to sucralose!

  3. So am I... kind of scary to have to watch out for sucralose in non-"diet" products (or foods/beverages that you would not expect to contain artificial sweeteners).
