Review: Subway - Carved Turkey Sub

Subway's Carved Turkey sub features thick-cut, white-meat carved turkey with your choice of veggies, cheese, and bread.

I bought a Footlong for $8.25 (It's $5.25 for a 6-inch).

I had them make my sub pretty close to the promotion pictures with spinach, tomato, onion, white American cheese, and mayo on Italian bread.

The thicker cut made for a meatier sub than any other I've had at Subway (that wasn't double meat or Deluxe). I could taste turkey in every bite. Additionally, I could feel the tender but sinewy texture of the turkey in every bite. It indeed seemed like cold turkey carved off a breast. For deli meat, I appreciated that they went fairly light with the salt.

While the meat was nice, the skin was a little rubbery. While the turkey broke easily, the skin snapped off in large, chewy pieces and left me wondering if getting the sub toasted would have made for better, more roasted skin.

The bread was a little dry on this occasion but the produce was fresh and decently flavorful. The cheese provided a creamy mild note, while the mayo added richness and a slight tang.

Overall, Subway's Carved Turkey Sub was pretty solid. They turkey would be perfectly at home with some stuffing and gravy and it didn't feel like they were skimping on the meat like it sometimes does at Subway. It would also go well with pesto.
