Review: Carl's Jr. - Buffalo Blue Cheese CrissCut Fries

Carl's Jr.'s Buffalo Blue Cheese CrissCut Fries feature an order of their seasoned, criss-cut French fries topped with blue cheese crumbles, Frank's RedHot Buffalo Wings sauce, and ranch dressing.

An order came out to $3.59 but I receive this courtesy of Carl's Jr.

My order was missing the ranch dressing but I didn't mind because seasoned fries plus blue cheese plus buffalo sauce equals salt plus salt plus salt.

Like the burger, if you like blue cheese, there's plenty of it here as well as some nice tangy heat from the buffalo sauce. The ranch would have helped take the edge off of the buffalo sauce but seems a bit overkill since the blue cheese is already there for that.

The fries were only a little bit crispy, but had a enjoyable light, seasoned flavor.

Overall, I like the way the flavors work together in Carl's Jr. Buffalo Blue CrissCut Fries (barring my general dislike of blue cheese) but think it would have worked better with thick steak fries to better cushion against the three inherently salty components. As it stands, it's almost like eating flavored salt.

  1. I'm surprised they used Blu Cheese crumbles and not like Blu Cheese dressing.

Blu Cheese and Buffalo sauce have always been a good match. You just have to get use to Blu Cheese. Lucky for me I love Blu Cheese. :)

However I think the price is a bit more then what I would want to spend.

  2. Holy cow. Sodium - 1890mg ! Your "it's almost like eating flavored salt." isn't wrong! You're supposed to aim for 500 mg or less per meal!

  3. Looks super delicious, yet sadly super salty. I would still eat them up with gusto! I think I will just make these at home instead.

  4. Let me give you a suggestion. If you see BluCheese and Buffalo Sauce and sodium is something that bothers you then I wouldn't even look. Being surprised by this shouldn't surprise you at all. And it's Carl's Jr. so were you expecting everything they make or even 1/2 of what they make to be super healthy?

  5. There's a difference between "not super healthy" and "has a third more sodium in one single side dish than you should have in an entire day".

  6. Can someone explain why this has ranch dressing on it. Why not just blue cheese dressing. Makes absolutely no sense, but I know there are weirdos out there that love their ranch dressing.
