Review: Sonic - Super Crunch Chicken Strips

Sonic's Super Crunch Chicken Strips are the new "improved" version of their previous chicken strips featuring an extra crispy batter.

An order of three strips was $3.29, which is pretty standard as far as chicken strips go.

Super Super Crunch Chicken Strips aren't markedly different from the previous chicken strips. They taste the same as far as I can tell, which is to say very lightly seasoned.

The key difference is that the new strips sport a thicker, crunchier batter. Notably, there are a good deal more nooks and crannies. More than enough crunchy batter in these strips. In fact, too much...

Well, not too much so much so a disproportionate amount of batter to chicken. The chicken was a little dry and they were very thin, long strips. It's fine if you just like batter but I prefer more chicken.

Overall, Sonic Super Crunch Chicken Strips deliver on the crunchy batter promise but whiff on the chicken portion of the dish.

  1. Makes me wish I lived near a JITB... especially since McDonald's ended up not bringing back their pumpkin shakes this year, in favor of the new pumpkin spice lattes. :( (I hope they bring the shakes back next year and get rid of the lattes.)

Anyway, back to the original topic: JITB's lineup of holiday drinks looks like a good one.

  2. Maybe I was cranky because the good folks at sonic screwed up my order, and I didnt notice til I got home. Anyhow....I found these things to be subpar to any chicken strips I've had.

Disclaimer: Usually I eat burgers from Sonic.

Im not a fan of the sweet cornbread-like batter used to make these. Mine were not all that crunchy either. I'd agreed with the blogger though there is definitely more batter than chicken.(im sure thats intended to be crunchy) .
