Review: Trader Joe's - Pumpkin Macarons

Trader Joe's offers Pumpkin Macarons as part of their seasonal fall line-up. They're French-style small sandwich cookies made with two pumpkin-flavored cookies with a pumpkin custard filling.

A 4.6-ounce box of 12 macarons goes for $4.99 (which isn't bad if you have a macaron habit, since they're around $2 if you get them from a bakery or patisserie in LA).

You can find these in the frozen aisle of Trader Joe's, but you might want to call ahead; my local Trader Joe's is already out of these and it's not even November yet.

These were pretty good and better than some of the bakery macarons that I've tried. The cookie had just the thinnest of a crispy shell and were delicately moist and a bit cake-like inside.

There's a light pumpkin spice flavor to the cookies and a more pronounced pumpkin spice flavor to the filling, which was slightly fluffed, rich, and creamy.

Overall, Trader Joe's Pumpkin Macarons are quite the delectable little treats (emphasis on little; you can easily pop one of these in your mouth like a popped kernel of popcorn). They pack a lot of texture and flavor despite their small size and are ideal if you love everything pumpkin and are looking to indulge without overindulging.
