Review: Nabisco - Caramel Apple Oreos

Caramel Apple Oreos are a limited-edition, Target-exclusive this fall and feature vanilla Golden Oreo wafers sandwiching a combination of green apple- and caramel-flavored creme filling.

I bought a 12.2-oz package for $2.99.

Out of the bag, these have a green apple and caramel aroma to them that's pretty pleasant. The caramel is the stronger odor of the two.

The green apple portion of the filling has an uneven amount of tartness that overall is pretty light. There's a definitely a green apple essence to it, but like you might find in bubble gum. It doesn't hit that tanginess though.

The caramel-flavored creme is similarly light, but distinct, and the combination of the two feel sweeter than your standard Oreo vanilla creme.

Obviously, you get more of the caramel flavor if you're the type that likes to pull apart Oreos to lick the creme inside. If you eat them in sandwich form, the vanilla wafers tends to overshadow the caramel apple creme a bit, but you still get a hint of the flavor.

Overall, if the regular Golden Oreo is that standard, these fall a little bit below them. They're enjoyable enough, but the vanilla of the wafers and the caramel apple of the dual-cremes don't quite mesh. Still, if you're hosting a fall-themed party (especially for kids), or just want something to get you in the fall spirit, these might do the trick.
