Review: Del Taco - Small Taco Salad

Del Taco's Small Taco Salad is part of their classic menu from back in the day that they've brought back for a limited time. It features seasoned ground beef, hand-grated cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, and Del Taco's secret sauce on a bed of shredded lettuce with a few tortilla chips.

I got an order for $2.

This reminded me quite a bit of the taco salads they'd sometimes serve in the school cafeteria when I was a kid. I liked it a good deal back then and Del Taco does it a little better.

There's a good amount of fresh, crisp lettuce, beef, and cheese. The tomatoes were a bit fewer in amount, but were also pretty fresh.

Del Taco's secret sauce seems to a mayo variant but with more savory notes rather than tang.

The chips were thin and crispy, but there was only about five of them. I wished there were more of them because they went rather quickly. Or, it might be better if they came in smaller strips but greater numbers for better dispersal.

Overall, Del Taco's Small Taco Salad was pretty good. It's pretty much just a different form of your typical taco components but with a heavier lettuce aspect to it. Like a taco, you can always add taco sauce if you want a bit more tang or flavor, but the secret sauce does a pretty good job. You might want to order some extra chips though.
