A 24-ounce Venti cup is normally $3.95, but I picked this one up for $1.97 during the half-off promotion this week.
If you've had a Starbucks Refresher before, you probably know that they're not full-on fruit juice drinks, but are more like flavored waters, or in this case, maybe orangeade.
As such, the Valencia Orange tastes a little bit like a orange-tangerine juice box, but not as sweet. I guess like an adult juice box.
As advertised, it's pretty refreshing on a hot day with a nice hit of palate-cleansing sourness.
The orange wedge is a little weird; it looks like it might be dried. My drink came with two so, out of curiosity, I ate one. It wasn't icy cold like it was frozen, but definitely wasn't fresh, or dried out (it's dried at least a bit though), either. So maybe freeze dried? I'm not really sure. It was definitely sweet though (possibly sweetened), but also adds a note of bitter rind. If you try it, let me know what you think it is below.
Overall, I liked the Valencia Orange Starbucks Refresher the best out of the line (I also tried the Cool Lime and Berry Hibiscus flavors previously). I prefer citrus fruits and doubling up on them is a-okay with me.

I am curious to know if these are offered with different sweeteners other than Sugar? Sounds good, but as a Diabetic, I have to be careful what I indulge in....
ReplyDeleteI love that the author tried to eat the orange slices. Now that's investigative journalism. (NOT sarcasm) I love this site!
ReplyDeleteIt taste best with 3 pumps of vanilla
ReplyDeleteLike a creamsicle?!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I both tried one and he said that the acid bothered his stomach so he didn't care for the drink. I liked mine but it had too much sugar so I wouldn't order it again.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was pretty delicious and fresh ! But I am still wondering if the orange slices where frozen or dried ! Overall it was good (:
ReplyDeleteI found out that they're dehydrated. So, dried.
ReplyDeleteIt has some sort of artificial sweetener combined with sugar. A venti only has 160 calories so there is something fake in there.
