Review: Mauna Loa - Kona Coffee Glazed Macadamias

Mauna Loa's Kona Coffee Glazed Macadamia Nuts feature two of Hawaii's signature foodstuffs in Kona coffee and macadamia nuts. They're also two of the most expensive foods to come out of Hawaii.

I don't know how much this costs, my brother brought back a variety back from Hawaii and I'm slowly making my way through them. Here on the mainland a similar 4.5-ounce can sells for around $5.

The glaze on these macadamias are like a coffee toffee. There's a sweet, slightly caramelized, buttery coating with a pretty strong coffee bite that might be too bitter for some. It's especially nice if you feel coffee flavored items don't taste coffee-like enough. I'm a huge coffee drinker, so it's great for me.

The coffee flavor goes well with the buttery nut and isn't so strong or thick that it overpowers the nut. If you're a coffee nut, this might be the macadamia for you.

  1. I'm not sure of the prices for an individual can in Hawaii, but a 6 pack is $19.99 at Long's (owned by CVS).
