Review: Five Guys - Bacon Cheese Dog

Five Guys' Bacon Cheese Dog comes with a split hot dog, bacon, and American cheese plus your choice off of their list of free toppings.

It's a bit pricey at $5.49 for one hot dog.

In addition to the bacon, hot dog, and cheese, I opted to go simple with some diced onions.

The bun is denser than a standard hot dog bun, but super soft and pretty fresh. It gets squished fairly easily and had split apart at the hinge, but is really nice otherwise.

The bacon was crunchy, but lacked a bit in the flavor department (possibly from being overcooked). The onions added an extra crispiness and slight sweetness.

The hot dog itself was grilled to perfection and probably was a quarter of a pound.

I was dismayed to find melted American cheese lining the top half of my hot dog rather than cheddar.

Overall, Five Guys' Bacon Cheese Dog was well made, but the ingredients are pretty much the same stuff that they use for their burgers, which feels a little like a shoehorning. It'd be nice if they offered some chili to make some chili dogs, but as it stands, I'd rather just get their plain Hot Dog.
