I picked up a 12-ounce mini-sized cup for $1.99.
There's a pronounced and genuine peanut butter flavor throughout the very thick shake. It's actually a little too thick and takes a fair bit of effort to work up the straw. Still, better thick than thin. It's easy enough to wait for it to melt with the hot weather.
The shake ends up being more or less like peanut butter in ice cream form and is coupled with a somewhat generic jelly flavor. By "generic," I mean it tasted like jelly with fruity notes, but I wouldn't have necessarily guessed that it was strawberry jelly, which is to say, it's a lot like real jelly.
I have to hand it to Sonic, the Peanut Butter & Jelly Shake lives up to its name and tastes remarkably like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. That being said, I'm not sure how much I want my shake to taste like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. It's good and interesting, but reminds me a little too much of brown bagging it for lunch. It's worth a try just for the novelty though.

This was the one I was most tempted to try other than the outrageous Peanut Butter & Bacon shake I reviewed. Sounds like the Peanut Butter & Jelly version was only slightly better.
