An order at my local Jack in the Box was $2.99.
They forgot the jalapeno slices so I had to ask for them and add them myself. They add a sour and spicy bite.
I'm a fan of Jack's potato wedges; they're moist inside with just a slightly-crispy, lightly-battered crust. Importantly, they are lightly salted, which makes them a good canvas to add on to.
The cheese here is more or less like plain nacho cheese; it's pretty familiar but not as rich or flavorful as on the previous Hot Mess Wedges. I would have liked more cheddar on these for flavor.
The chili was pretty meaty, but like the cheese, was also a bit lacking in the flavor department. It could use a little more bite or sweet tomato tang. The onions come in somewhat large slices, which gives either too much onion or none at all to each bite. A even, better distributed dice would have made up some ground in the terms of flavor.
The end result is a middling (good) example of chili cheese wedges that could have been much better (great) with a few tweaks. Somehow, I enjoyed the less-"loaded" Hot Mess Potato Wedges more.
