Review: Del Taco - Chili Cheese Fry Burrito

Del Taco's Chili Cheese Fry Burrito features crinkle-cut fries with chili and hand-grated cheddar cheese, wrapped in a flour tortilla.

The small burrito comes in at $1.49 each.

With mostly fries inside, the Chili Cheese Fry Burrito comes off very potato-y. Del Taco's crinkle-cut are a bit thicker than McDonald's or Wendy's fries and tend to be fairly crispy, but, like any fry, the crispiness is lost in short order as it steams inside a flour tortilla.

The flour tortilla was pretty soft, but the burrito was folded with one end open and there was about an inch of empty space on that end.

There's a nice bit of melted cheese but not that much chili.
Still, the chili holds its own against the fries and cheese. It's more tomato-y than typical for fast food (save for maybe Wendy's) and more tangy than I'd like. I'd prefer the meat of the chili be a little more prominent over the tomato.  The chili has a just a slight bite to it.

Overall, while I liked the fries and the cheese of Del Taco's Chili Cheese Fry Burrito, I just couldn't get into the overly-tomato-y and not-so-meaty chili.

  1. Think I would pass on this and just get a actual potato and add the chili and cheese.

  2. I think the whole idea for the burrito is portability. I'd also prefer normal chili cheese fries or a chili cheese baked potato.

  3. The burrito looks so dry inside. I can barely see any sauce!
