News: General Mills Brings Back Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy

While they used to be available year round, Count Chocula and his Monster Cereal friends, Franken Berry and Boo Berry, have since been relegated to seasonal Halloween duties and it's that time of the year again. This year, the General Mills Halloween trio are joined by two monster flavors that haven't been seen in over 20 years: Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy.

All five Monster Cereal flavors are available now at select retailers and will reach full nationwide distribution in early September, while supplies last. For those of you into retro packaging, retro boxes of all five cereals will also be available, but only at Target stores.

All five flavors feature variously-flavored whole grain corn cereal and colorful marshmallow shapes. Chococula is chocolate-flavored; Franken Berry is strawberry-flavored; Boo Berry is blueberry-flavored; Fruit Brute is fruit-flavored with lime-flavored marshmallows, and Yummy Mummy is fruit-flavored with vanilla-flavored marshmallows.

You can expect the limited-time cereals to be available at least through Halloween.

  2. I usually pick up a box of Count Chocula every year, but Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy sound pretty interesting so I might give them a shot as well.

Ever since I watched a stoned Eric Stoltz eat it in "Pulp Fiction", I always wanted to try Fruit Brute.

  4. The FIRST thing I suspect anyone (i.e., eBay seller/scalper) will do when they get to their local Target, is to grab EVERY box (retro design) off the shelf. and then speed home to list them all on eBay @ $200 a box or $500 for a set. but only AFTER the cereal date has expired so that no one will be able to eat any. plus, the boxes will be crushed (purposely before shipping).

  5. Hmm.. thanks for the idea lol. Although I don't see the point in messing with the product intentionally. But re-selling nostalgia items does work sometimes.
