Review: Del Taco - Jacked Up Value Bean & Cheese Burrito with Rice

Del Taco's Jacked Up Value Bean & Cheese Burrito with Rice features slow-cooked beans, Fresca Lime rice, spicy jack cheese, and tangy green sauce wrapped up in a warm flour tortilla. It's a slightly suped up version.

The burrito goes for 75 cents. They also have a regular value bean and cheese (cheddar) burrito for 50 cents.

The rice and beans were pretty nice here. The beans had the standard paste texture of refried beans with soft, whole beans here and there. They added a nice earthy flavor.

The rice was moist and lightly seasoned, but a little overshadowed by the green sauce.

The green sauce adds a pretty solid tang and a bit of a pepper flavor, but isn't spicy. I'm not sure I like the added tang and would prefer it as an option on the side as it tends to cover up the rest of the flavors.

The cheese wasn't very spicy or strong and, for the most part, was missing in both melty gooey-ness and flavor. I was expecting more jack cheese flavor from something called "jacked up."

Overall, Del Taco's Jacked Up Value Beans & Cheese Burrito is just okay for me. I would have liked a little less sauce and a little more cheese. I liked the beans and rice though. And, for 75 cents, it's a great value and pretty filling for when you're running on empty.

  1. Yea, I'll agree I don't love everything from Del Taco.. but the value is pretty impressive. I'll never forget a time at lunch where I forgot my wallet at home, but had about 2 bucks in change in my car.. Del Taco was the easy choice.
