Giveaway Drawing: Sara Lee Snack Cakes Gift Pack

I have a gift pack, provided courtesy of Sara Lee, to give away to one lucky reader. The gift pack includes the following:
  • An assortment of Sara Lee Snack Cakes (three by my count)
  • An official Sara Lee logoed lunch box (just an FYI, it's more of a lunch purse)
  • An official Sara Lee logoed water bottle
  • Two randomly selected boxes of Sara Lee Snack Cakes

To enter: Simply leave a comment below declaring your favorite portable dessert (baked yourself or otherwise). Only one comment per person please. The contest is only open to residents of the U.S. ages 18 and older. Please be sure to include your email address in the "email" field (and not in the comment section... you don't want spam!) as I will be contacting the winner via email.

The giveaway drawing will close this Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00pm Pacific Standard Time. Shortly after, I'll compile the entries and use a random number generator to choose a winner, who will receive a Sara Lee Snack Cakes gift pack from Sara Lee.

I'll announce the winner here once a name is drawn. Good luck!

Winner: Congrats to Jay!

As to why Sara Lee is now in the snack cakes business:

As some of you may know, Hostess went into liquidation proceedings earlier this year and their products disappeared off the shelves. The brand (and recipes) was acquired by another company and recently began producing again (the Wallstreet Journal has a good story regarding the fallout). But while they were gone, several other bakery brands introduced their own snack cakes, including Sara Lee.

The line up includes the familiar Chocolate Creme Cupcakes (minus the trademark squiggly icing) and Golden Cream Cakes (their version of the Twinkie), but also includes a very 'Sara Lee' Buttery Sunshine Cake (a riff on their own pound cake).

  2. I've seen these in the stores, but haven't tried them. My favorite portable desert would probably be an oatmeal cream pie or a Swiss roll.

  4. If dessert is involved, it's more like a binge.. less like a snack. It's less like a binge and more like a super binge if anything peanut butter is involved. Thats why, on most occasions, I try ("try" being the operative word) to stay away from dessert!

-Mountain house Neapolitan Freeze Dried Ice Cream
    -Berger Cookies
-Lofthouse Frosted Sugar Cookies (the pink are the best, even if they do all taste the same :p)
-Go lean crunch cereal (I don't care if it's cereal, if you bag it it's an amazing snack!)
    -Vanilla Meringue Cookies
-Dark Chocolate Peepsters... only available in the Spring :'c
    -Reese's Fastbreak
As you can see, the list could go on forever. I'll save you those troubles though ;) I'd love to expand this list with some free snack goodies! haha :D

I would have said the Taco Bell cookie sandwich if it had not disappeared so quickly. Long term and usually close in tastiness is probably Little Debbie's chocolate chip creme sandwich. Notice a trend?
