Review: Pizza Hut - Chicken, Bacon, Tomato Garlic Parmesan Pizza

Pizza Hut's Chicken, Bacon, Tomato Garlic Parmesan Pizza features a creamy garlic, Parmesan & Romano sauce, toasted Parmesan crust, and a sprinkling of a Parmesan-parsley blend. It's topped with sliced white meat chicken, bacon pieces, and diced tomatoes.

I picked up a large for $10.

This is the second time I've tried Pizza Hut's new hand-tossed pizza (here's the first) and I can't say it's much of an upgrade over the previous version, which is not to say it's not better (it is). I'm just not seeing the airier crust promised on the box and while there were a couple air bubbles, it seemed like they just randomly pumped air into the dough rather than it being a natural occurrence of the dough baking. It's kinda like how deli meats are now sold to look as if they had been cut by hand (but they're actually machine-cut). I understand the idea, but it's still weird. Still, the new crust feels more like pizza and less like bread than the previous version.

While the normal hand-tossed pizza is brushed with garlic butter spread, the end crust of the Garlic Parmesan Pizza is topped with an even layer of caramelized shredded Parmesan. It makes for a great crunch and impactful finish (unless you eat it end crust first; in which case, it makes for an impactful start).

The white sauce was wonderfully garlicky and creamy, but with only a few hints of Parmesan and Romano cheese.

The topping combination went very well with the sauce. The bacon and tomatoes stood out in particular in terms of flavor and texture. The tomatoes adds a fresh brightness in what would otherwise be a meaty-cheesy affair. Topping coverage was spot on and I was never left wondering where my chicken/bacon/tomatoes went.

Overall, the Chicken, Bacon, Tomato Garlic Parmesan Pizza is the best pizza I've had from Pizza Hut in a long time. Gimmicks are (sometimes) interesting and all, but I'm really glad that they went with just a solid normal pizza concept this time around. I particularly enjoyed the crunchy Parmesan crust and garlicky sauce.
