Review: Nabisco - Mocha Chunk Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies

Mocha Chunk Chewy Chips Ahoy cookies are one of four new Ice Cream Creations flavors for the popular chocolate chip cookie brand. It features a chewy chocolate chip cookie with the addition of mocha-flavored chunks.

I bought a 9.5-ounce package for $2.50 on sale.

These were as disappointing as the Root Beer Float cookies were weird good. I though Mocha Chunk sounded like the least unusual, and therefore, easiest to accomplish of the four flavors (the other two are Dulce De Leche and Mint Chocolate Chip).

There's a coffee flavor to these, but it's not a good coffee flavor. It's bitter with a weird aftertaste and is overly sweet rather than smooth. It's that not-so-great flavor of really cheap canned coffee. It even has the smell.

It could have been improved with some creaminess to blunt the harsher notes. Moreover, the mocha chips cover up the flavor of the chocolate chips and lingers on the tongue

The rest of the cookie is the standard soft-baked chewy Chips Ahoy with semisweet chocolate chips.

Overall, Mocha Chunk Chewy Chips Ahoy was a complete miss for me. The flavor of the mocha chunks just ruins the rest of the chocolate chip cookie. These might have been the worse cookies I've had... except, maybe, that one time as a kid when my brother mistakenly used salt instead of sugar to make chocolate chips cookies.
